Introduction

Welcome to EdWeb 2.0

EdWeb 2.0 provides K-12 with an open source option to complement the existing district web presence and grades/attendance portal.

Providing so many of the additional pieces needed, EdWeb helps minimize all the islands of information, makes management of the web presence easier, gives your staff a consistent interface to work with, and is free.

Also available (Summer of 2010) for use with EdWeb is an iPhone app (not free, but pretty cheap) on the iPhone App Store .

And we provide support and hosting of EdWeb sites, also not free, but also reasonably priced.

What is EdWeb 2.0 not?

EdWeb 2.0 does not currently provide a way to create/manage a district web site.

EdWeb 2.0 does not get into student system-related information, such as grades, attendance, demographics, etc...

Despite being open source, EdWeb 2.0 is not developed on the LAMP platform, but rather the Microsoft platform - Visual Studio 2005, ASP.NET 2.0, and IIS. The database used can be an open source alternative - PostgreSQL, mySQL, etc... should work fine.

EdWeb 2.0 helps to make your school district web presence more than just the parts - it helps to bring those parts together in a way that makes the whole much greater than the parts, and feel as if there was an integration plan from the start.

Take a look through the EdWeb module diagrams to get a feel for what EdWeb provides.

And if you like what you see, and would like to get more involved and help with EdWeb, look at the EdWeb open source page of this help site for information on how you can help, and be more involved in the ongoing direction of EdWeb

Sincerely,

Ed Webster
